Creating Opportunities to Experience Art, Urban Renewal & Question Change
The Basement Lounge is currently closed but is used to display GRITTY underground art and music. It’s an unusually large space for a house of this age and is a semi-finished, dark space that is approximately 1000 square feet consisting of a fruit cellar, coal shoot, enclosed storage area, half bath, laundry/utility area, and a large common area.
Lighting artist Andrew Kaletta’s ongoing installation “Seeing the Light” opened in the fruit seller Sept 12, 2014, an interactive light and sound piece that he adds to each month, sometimes spilling into the yard, garden and fence. Look for Kaletta’s handmade lamps throughout HTGs spaces. He uses upcycled lamp parts adorned by hand sewed and dyed shades. Look for him to expand his space in the Basement Lounge.
The Basement Lounge is also being used as surplus space for”TREMONT FLEA” that opened July 4, 2012. All the flea bling creates a perfect backdrop for JAZZ Music Night Lounge Parties . . .
